balance | one little word 2014
my word for 2014 is balance. it popped into my head when i was passing through a step-stone bridge over a pond at the Korakuen Garden during our trip to Okayama.
balance has a lot of different definitions, from evenly distributing weight to enable something to stay upright and steady, having different elements in correct proportions, putting something in a steady position so it does not fall, offsetting the value of one thing with another and much more.
to me, balance relates mostly to readjusting based on different situations. i quit my full-time job in Sept last year and do two part-time jobs that added up to full-time. i mainly work from home now and have much more free time. i am happier this way, although i earn less and have fewer chances to interact with others.
i need to find and establish a new balance however: between work and home, time to myself and time with others, spending and saving. i’m hoping to bring each part into harmony together. also i want to balance between food and fitness. i’ve been intrigued by the idea of being a “part-time vegetarian” (eat vegan/vegetarian meals for breakfast and lunch, and anything you want for dinner) ever since i read an article about it. this feels like a nice balance to me and i’m thinking to trying it this year.
looking forward to this personal journey in 2014. let’s balance on the path of life.
2 years ♥
marriage is fun as you influence each other in ways you never thought possible. i can sit through sci-fi movies sometimes. other than chocolate flavor, he also eats green tea ice cream now. and i like sleeping on the sofa rather than my bed lately. and he enjoys (?) cooking dinner for us finally…see? we are really good for each other.
happy anniversary mister k. can’t believe it has been 2 years already ♥
